Your official step-by-step guide to setting up your Trezor hardware wallet securely.
Trezor is a hardware wallet that helps you store your cryptocurrencies safely offline. Unlike software wallets, Trezor stores your private keys in a secure hardware device, disconnected from the internet and immune to most digital attacks. Whether you're a beginner or a crypto expert, Trezor puts security and privacy in your hands.
Connect your Trezor device to your computer. Open your browser and go to https://trezor.io/start. This ensures you're using the official setup guide and avoids phishing attacks.
Trezor Suite is the official desktop application that helps manage your device and crypto. Download and install it for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). You can also use the Web version if you prefer.
If your Trezor is brand new, you’ll be prompted to install firmware. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once firmware is installed, proceed with creating a new wallet.
Your Trezor will generate a unique 12 or 24-word recovery seed. This is your ultimate backup. Write it down on the provided recovery card and keep it in a safe place offline. Never share it or take a picture.
Choose a PIN to protect your device. You'll use this PIN every time you connect the device. Make sure it's memorable, yet hard for others to guess.
After setup, you can add supported cryptocurrencies to your Trezor Suite dashboard. Receive, send, and monitor your assets safely with full control.
